Courtney Mayer, MA, MFT-I, NCC, earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a specialization in research as well as a master’s degree in marriage and family counseling from the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). She continues to serve clients at Thrive as a therapist, specializing in treating individuals struggling with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and trauma.
Courtney is passionate about walking alongside clients on their mental health journey and strives to create a safe space for each to explore their unique strengths, abilities, concerns, goals, values, and ultimately, their life story. She works with individuals, couples, and families, and takes pride in supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ community. In her practice, Courtney is intrigued by the micro and macro systems that shape her clients’ worldviews. She advocates for holistic health and the efficacy of integrated care and treatment, as well as the power that the arts can play in therapeutic healing.
In her spare time, Courtney enjoys being outdoors, attending concerts, creating music, tending to her plants, and greeting every dog she sees.
