Deja DeTrinidad, ACSW

Deja DeTrinidad attended Sacramento State University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology. As she began to work with families in need of support, she discovered a strong desire to pursue further education to become a therapist. She earned a master’s degree in social work with a clinical focus at California State University, Stanislaus, and has continued to assist individuals and families facing mental and behavioral health struggles as an associate clinical social worker (ACSW).

Deja’s experience includes treating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, family systems, disordered eating, and psychosis among other diagnoses. In her work, she practices an individualized approach and employs treatment modalities and therapy methods as appropriate for each client. Her training includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), trauma-focused integrated play therapy (TF-IPT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness interventions, and motivational interviewing. As a therapist at Thrive Wellness Sacramento, she is part of an integrated team helping individuals and families who are experiencing eating disorders and coexisting conditions, perinatal mental health issues, anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

As a firm believer in the power of positive change and healing, working in therapy was and is a dream come true for Deja. As a client-centered therapist, she values empowering others and highlighting each individual’s unique strengths. She feels honored to be invited to join one’s journey to self-fulfillment and is inspired by the resiliency of those she works with. Deja strives to create a safe space to foster insight and growth, and works closely with clients to develop an effective therapeutic alliance.
