Susanna Mari Doss, MSW, LCSW

Assistant Director of Anxiety Disorders, Therapist

Susanna Doss is a proud graduate of Baylor University’s Garland School of Social Work, where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work. To this day, she remains closely involved with her alma mater as a supervisor of clinical interns who aspire to establish a career in social work.

As a licensed clinical social worker, Susanna has practiced in a variety of clinical settings and specializes in helping clients who have experienced trauma and crisis as well as those diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). She is formally trained and certified in exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy for OCD through the Behavioral Therapy Training Institute (BTTI). Susanna is also educated and experienced in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), prolonged exposure (PE) therapy, and integrated behavioral health. She uses these modalities and other evidence-based intervention methods to work hand-in-hand with clients struggling with OCD, anxiety, panic, depression, bipolar disorder, grief and loss, and transition work.

As the assistant director of anxiety disorders and a therapist at Thrive Wellness Waco, Susanna works closely with a multidisciplinary team devoted to treating clients in eating disorder recovery, those with perinatal mental health concerns, and individuals with other mental or behavioral health needs. She believes that mental health work is essential for everyone — not just those with incapacitating issues — and is proud to play a role in helping others to improve and preserve their well-being. As a licensed professional, she strives to break down any barriers between herself and a client and aims to “share the power,” enabling and empowering him or her to listen to their inner voice, become an autonomous expert on their life, and actively engage in their own healing process.

Susanna was born and raised in Japan and traveled extensively before settling down in the United States. She continues to enjoy traveling as often as she can alongside her husband and three children. A golden retriever named Emma Lou and a frisky kitten named Mochi keep Susanna and her family on their feet and having fun.
