We specialize in supporting individuals struggling with eating disorders and perinatal mental health conditions and are passionate about helping you thrive.

Treatment Specialties

Eating Disorders

Eating disorders can take different forms, including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, orthorexia, and avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder. Often, eating disorders are accompanied by other mental health struggles, including anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). At Thrive, you will receive comprehensive care that encompasses medical, mental, and behavioral health as well as general well-being support from our specialists.

Perinatal Mental Health

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) are the most common complication of pregnancy and can interfere with parents’ ability to live life fully. Additionally, nursing can naturally be challenging for some birthing parents. We support new parents and their families by providing them with care that reinforces their overall wellness — because caregivers should be cared for too.

Therapeutic Formats

Individual Therapy

During individual therapy, your therapist supports you in healing your past experiences and honing your personal strengths, so you can grow into the person you strive to be. Our providers are trained in many different therapy modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP), psychodynamic psychotherapy, mindful self-compassion, interpersonal psychotherapy, wilderness therapy, cinema therapy, and positive psychotherapy.

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy can nurture healthy, loving relationships and heal deeply-rooted issues within struggling relationships. During sessions, couples discuss their relationship complications, improve their communication skills, and develop a deeper understanding of each other. As couples work with their therapist, they’ll heal their relationship and discover strategies to strengthen their bonds.

Family Therapy

Family therapy analyzes behaviors and patterns within your family system, as well as the situation and experience of each family member. From there, your therapist implements a treatment plan to help your family meet its goals.

Group Therapy

Group therapy can be integrated into a larger treatment program or used on its own to help foster a sense of community among members. The modality unites members who are experiencing similar obstacles and provides a cathartic experience as the individuals share and listen to each other's lived experiences.

Frequently Asked Questions

Thrive offers every participant in outpatient treatment an individualized treatment plan. Some clients will benefit from weekly therapy, while others may choose to work with clinicians bi-weekly. For individuals in need of therapy and nutrition support services, clinicians will work together to ensure integrated care.

Nutrition support services with an experienced registered dietitian (RD) are often essential to effective eating disorder treatment and long-term recovery. An RD can assess an eating disorder’s impact on eating habits, movement, and overall health, then provide ongoing nutritional support while helping an individual cultivate a more peaceful relationship with food and the body. This support incorporates guidance to eat in a way that provides adequate energy and includes a wide variety of foods while normalizing eating patterns and challenging the rules and rigidity dictated by an eating disorder. Well-rounded nutrition education is included and can further help each individual better understand the relationship between food and overall health. The ultimate goal of our nutrition support services is to help each individual find a way of fueling and moving their bodies that is authentic, balanced, and sustainable. We support new parents and their families by providing them with care that reinforces their mental, emotional, and overall well-being. Just like many other forms of outpatient therapy, individuals can expect to work one-on-one with a therapist and address the challenges and transitions of new parenthood. At Thrive Sacramento, our perinatal mental health services include individual and family therapy, nutrition counseling, and lactation support services.

For some birthing parents and their babies, breastfeeding (or chestfeeding) can present challenges that lactation support services can help alleviate. Whether you’re still pregnant and simply want to be better prepared or are struggling with latching, milk supply issues, breastfeeding positions, sore nipples, and other common nursing concerns, nutrition support services can provide valuable guidance and promote infant feeding success.

The first step is scheduling an assessment. During the assessment, the patient (and family, if desired) will meet with a clinician to discuss what they are experiencing so an appropriate course of care can be curated. An individualized treatment plan will be recommended following the assessment, and our team will work with you to schedule and coordinate your care.

Insurance coverage varies by provider and care type for outpatient services. Before beginning any treatment or services with Thrive Sacramento, coverage will be verified, and an estimate of the cost will be provided.

Virtual services are available when clinically warranted.
