Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for Adults with Eating Disorders
Eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder (BED), and others are critical and potentially fatal illnesses that affect physical, psychological, and social well-being. With specialized clinical care, one can rebuild and resume beneficial eating behaviors to achieve long-term recovery.
The clinicians at Thrive Wellness Waco offer comprehensive, evidence-based treatment that enables you to receive expert care while remaining at home with minimal disruption to your daily obligations, including school or work.
Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) program for adults meets from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday of each week. Clients participate in both individual and group therapy, nutrition education and counseling, supported therapeutic meals, and more. Topics and themes of group therapy can include interpersonal relationships, mindful movement, and adaptive coping skills. Our unique treatment experience is designed to help individuals restore their relationships with food and live free from the burdens of an eating disorder.
Our IOP for adults over the age of 17 involves a minimum of 11 hours of treatment per week, including:
The following options are also available to clients:
Our IOP for adults is ideal for clients over the age of 17 who require more comprehensive eating disorder treatment than provided by their existing medical provider and/or therapist, yet cannot commit to or qualify for a full-time partial hospitalization program (PHP) that interferes with daily obligations like school and work.
Our IOP for adults takes place from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday of each week.
We have helped many individuals complete treatment while meeting the obligations of their daily lives. Our treatment team is happy to accommodate clients’ schedules and can coordinate sessions later during the program or outside of regular programming hours if and when needed.
For the convenience of university students who are in our care, we offer financial assistance for transportation between the campus and our clinic.
The first step is scheduling an assessment. During the assessment, the client (and family, if desired) will meet with our clinical team to discuss the eating disorder and any co-occurring conditions so an appropriate course of care can be curated. An individualized treatment plan will be recommended following the assessment and our team will work with you to schedule a program start date and coordinate your care.
Everyone’s healing journey is unique. The duration of one’s treatment is dependent on their progress and preferences. All clients are provided individualized treatment plans and are encouraged to continue treatment until they’ve reached recovery. Often upon completing the program, patients continue their care through outpatient services for long-term recovery and optimal well-being.
Thrive Wellness Waco currently partners with and accepts Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas for our eating disorder day treatment programs. For those who are not in-network, we are able to pursue options for potential clients and their families to use their insurance benefits. As part of the intake process, our admissions team will walk you through what this entails and provide you with an estimate of potential out-of-pocket costs.
Recovery is possible. Reclaim your relationships with food and your body and learn how to heal.
