Outpatient Therapy, Psychiatry, and More

Thrive Waco offers a haven of healing in the heart of central Texas where kind-hearted mental and behavioral health care is client-centric. With a compassionate drive as big as our state, Thrive Waco’s team will help you discover a holistic sense of healing free from the burdens of mental and behavioral health concerns.

Eating Disorders

Eating disorders can take different forms, including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, orthorexia, and avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder. Often, eating disorders are accompanied by other mental health struggles, including anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). At Thrive, you will receive comprehensive care that encompasses medical, mental, and behavioral health as well as general well-being support from our specialists.

Perinatal Mental Health

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) are the most common complication of pregnancy and can interfere with parents’ ability to live life fully. Additionally, nursing can naturally be challenging for some birthing parents. We support new parents and their families by providing them with care that reinforces their overall wellness — because caregivers should be cared for too.

Mood and Anxiety Disorders

Mood disorders include different types of depression and bipolar disorders, while there is an array of anxiety disorders which range from generalized anxiety disorder to panic disorder. If you’re struggling to process your experiences and regulate your emotions, our therapists can help you heal your pain, develop healthy coping skills, and discover joy again.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder commonly suffer from unreasonable fears, thoughts, and obsessions which lead to compulsive behaviors that can significantly impact their lives. This type of anxiety disorder often requires tailored treatment that can include therapy, medications, or both. Our therapists are trained in exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP) and other effective, evidence-based interventions. We’ll work with you to identify the treatment methods and approaches most appropriate for your unique healing journey.

Life Transitions | Grief and Loss

Life transitions and loss can be challenging, overwhelming, and even devastating. Our therapists will help you process your emotions, heal from your grief, and adapt to the shifts in your life in a healthy way.

Individual Therapy

During individual therapy, your therapist supports you in healing your past experiences and honing your personal strengths, so you can grow into the person you strive to be. Our providers are trained in many different therapy modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP), psychodynamic psychotherapy, mindful self-compassion, interpersonal psychotherapy, wilderness therapy, cinema therapy, and positive psychotherapy.

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy can nurture healthy, loving relationships and heal deeply-rooted issues within struggling relationships. During sessions, couples discuss their relationship complications, improve their communication skills, and develop a deeper understanding of each other. As couples work with their therapist, they’ll heal their relationship and discover strategies to strengthen their bonds.

Family Therapy

Family therapy analyzes behaviors and patterns within your family system, as well as the situation and experience of each family member. From there, your therapist implements a treatment plan to help your family meet its goals.

Group Therapy

Group therapy can be integrated into a larger treatment program or used on its own to help foster a sense of community among members. The modality unites members who are experiencing similar obstacles and provides a cathartic experience as the individuals share and listen to each other's lived experiences.

Psychiatry and Medication Management

During assessment or at any time during treatment, medication may be presented as an option to encourage your healing or help you better manage life with a mental or behavioral condition. Our psychiatrists can help you determine what you are most comfortable with and then monitor your medications while remaining in close communication with your therapist to make sure your treatment is as impactful as possible.

Treatment Modalities and Interventions

Thrive’s mental and behavioral health therapists and specialists are trained and experienced in a variety of treatment modalities and interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), exposure and response therapy (ERT), emotion-focused family therapy (EFFT), and many more. Your provider will work hand-in-hand with you to determine the approaches that are most comfortable and effective for you.

Lactation Consultation

For some birthing parents and their babies, breastfeeding (or chestfeeding) can present challenges that a certified lactation consultant can guide you through. Whether you’re still pregnant and simply want to be better prepared or are struggling with milk supply issues, breastfeeding positions, sore nipples, and other common nursing concerns, lactation consultation can provide physical and emotional support to you and your little one.

Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)

Those faced with certain chronic conditions, such as type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease, may benefit from MNT. Through MNT, our registered dietitians support individuals by providing personalized dietary, behavioral, and lifestyle guidance to reduce the complications that result from their chronic disease and improve their quality of life.

The first step is scheduling an assessment. During the assessment, the client (and family, if desired) will meet with our clinical team to discuss present conditions so an appropriate course of care can be curated. An individualized treatment plan will be recommended following the assessment and our team will work with you to coordinate and schedule your care.

During your first session, your therapist will ask you about your needs and goals for treatment. Most of the session will center around gathering more information about you, your current concerns, your history, and your desired outcomes. Towards the end of the first session, your therapist will share their recommendations about what they believe would be most effective for you, including types of therapy and how often you would benefit from therapy.

True to Thrive Waco’s values, your provider may also recommend other services that would complement your treatment. They may refer you to other Thrive team members or potentially to other local health care professionals as appropriate.

At Thrive Wellness Waco, we have a full-time psychiatric nurse practitioner who works closely with our clients, therapists, and clinicians to recommend, prescribe, and monitor medications as fit for each individual.

Virtual services are available when clinically warranted.

Many of Thrive’s individual providers are in-network with most Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas plans. Because there are many factors that can vary from plan to plan and impact the costs of services, our staff will verify the network status and benefit level for any Blue Cross and Blue Shield plan members. This allows you to be informed of any out-of-pocket costs you might incur while receiving services from Thrive.

For those who are not in-network with Thrive, we offer the option for you to private pay at the time of service. If you choose to pursue reimbursement on your own or submit these costs toward your out-of-network benefits, Thrive can provide you with appropriate documentation to do so.
