Brandon Steel

LMSW, CSW-Intern

Brandon earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from the University of Nevada, Reno. Deeply aligned with the core values of social work, he has long held a passion for advocating on behalf of others and supporting their well-being. During his graduate studies, Brandon completed an internship with Great Basin Behavioral Health, where he conducted assessments and provided both individual and group therapeutic services. He also gained valuable experience through his work with the Nevada Recovery and Prevention (NRAP) program at UNR, offering support to students in recovery at the collegiate level.

As a therapist at Thrive, Brandon approaches his work from a Person-in-Environment (PIE) perspective, aiming to empower clients and support them in making meaningful changes in their lives. He is trained in motivational interviewing and mindfulness, and is informed in evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). His approach integrates solution-focused and strengths-based methods to ensure clients feel valued, heard, and supported throughout treatment.

Brandon has a particular passion for working with individuals experiencing eating disorders, drawing from his own lived experience to provide empathetic, informed care. He believes in the healing power of community and strives to create a safe, collaborative space for each of his clients.

Outside of his clinical work, Brandon enjoys going to the movies, spending time with friends and family, and traveling.
