Julia Actis, LMSW, CSW-Intern
Julia Actis, LMSW, CSW-Intern, earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in social work at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), where she also gained valuable experience to launch her career. As an intern at UNR, Julia helped lead Project Upstream, an initiative of the University’s Student Outreach Clinic to connect Northern Nevada’s under/uninsured with essential community resources. Additionally, she supported clients as a practicum counselor at UNR Counseling Services and also served as a research assistant studying how food insecurity, housing insecurity, and environmental issues are related to oppression and social work practices.
As a therapist, Julia finds fulfillment in treating clients with anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, body image issues, depression, and trauma. She practices a person-centered therapeutic approach and is trained in solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Julia also enjoys integrating aspects of mindfulness as well as mind and body work as appropriate. At Thrive Wellness Reno, she is inspired by working in an integrated care setting where all aspects of clients’ well-being are considered and cared for. Julia is especially passionate about providing comprehensive care to promote holistic health with compassion. She enjoys helping her clients gain new insights, increased emotional awareness, coping skills, and sustainable self-care strategies.
